A Week of Style; Satin Cargo Trousers – Day 4

Day 4! One more day to go ;)

The last time I wore this top here, I had it buttoned up to the top, but had also mentioned that this blouse can also be worn unbuttoned. I wanted to see what it would look like paired with these trousers, and I’m happy I did! I love a loose on loose combo. Don’t get me wrong, you’re more likely to find me in a skinny pant and loose top, but sometimes it’s a nice change to pair together something like this. Allows you to eat more and not worry :P

Obviously I had to add some epic, sky-high heels. It wouldn’t have beeen me had I done anything less ;) I love these heels!!! I first (and only) featured them a while back during my DIY;Muscle Tank week here, and this past weekend was, so sad and true, the first time I actually wore them “out-out”. As in a night-out out. I was quite worried that my feet would kill because the last time I wore them out quickly after that post, I wanted to DIE! They were so uncomfortable and thought to myself “Omg, I just spent x amount of dollars on these shoes and can’t stand them!” I couldn’t let that one time be the deciding factor, and I’m very relieved to say that they are actually not bad!! Just needed some stretching, I guess ;)

Realists, do you have a pair of shoes that literally make you cringe every time you walk in them, but still hold onto them because they’re just too gorgeous to give away? Please share your stories! ;) Have a lovely Thursday, and stay classy!

Printed Trousers for Summer

Not only am I still coughing up my insides, but to bring me down even more, it’s gloomy and raining outside!! I’m a little over this crazy weather. I’m not one to enjoy wearing pants past mid-June. *sigh*

On the note of rain and pants, having a great printed trouser in your closet is a must-have (especially for those chillier days like today!). After being seen all over the runways, surely enough, they then ended up in many a closet. From floral to paisley, and zig-zags to damask, the sky’s the limit when it comes to printed trousers.

Some may think, “I can’t give in. They’re too hard to pair”, but trust me, it looks harder than it actually is! You can go the easier route and pair your printed pants with a solid, neutral top. Or, you can go the step further and use a solid, colored top. OR, you can be as creative as you can and mix print on print. Oh, the possibilities!!

Realists, it’s Friday! Hooray for the weekend!! This Sunday I’ll be participating in my first Spartan Race, so cross your fingers for me!! I’ll have the whole story for you next week :) Have a great weekend and stay classy!

5 Summer Essentials

Happy Monday, Realists! Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Today is a good start to the week because the weather is beautiful outside, and it looks like it’s going to be continuing that way for a while. Since the first day of summer is June 21st (coming up soon!) I figured I would help with your summer shopping in advance and put together what I believe to be summer’s 5 must-haves!

1st: Everyone needs an awesome pair of shades. This summer, there are many different styles floating around, but from what I’m seeing in fashion news and fashionistas on the streets, the colored-mirrored sunnies seem to be a favorite amongst most. I love this style because the perfect pair really makes an outfit look “cool”. You can have on the fanciest of fancy dresses, and the second you sport a pair of these, you instantly bring a certain chicness to you without overdoing it.

2nd: Personally, I believe everyone needs a simple, white tank top in their wardrobe. Now, as easy as you may think it is to just pick up a white tank and have it be perfect, let me tell you from experience, it’s not. Oh, the many tanks I’ve been through just to find that one that fits you to a tee! ;) Because a piece like this is so clean, you really need to make sure it’s the ideal fit and look.

3rd: A maxi skirt. Something every woman should own. No matter your size, height, color, whatever it is, I guarantee you there’s a maxi skirt waiting for you somewhere. A classy article of clothing that can go from day to night with just a change of shoes.

4th: Sandals. We all require a comfy, chic, pair of sandals in our closet. As much as I love to wear heels on a daily, even I know that you can’t possibly put your feet through that every time you leave the house (especially if you have kids!) They’re not difficult to come-by, so if you don’t already own a pair like this, do yourself a favor and start shopping! ;)

5th: Last, but not least, a cross-body. A purse big enough to old your essentials, small enough to not always get in the way, and comfortable enough to carry around you all day. No holding, no shoulder aching, just perfection!

I hope you enjoy what I believe to be the top 5 must-have summer essentials! Do you agree with me? Or would you change something for another? Let me know, I love to hear your thoughts! Happy shopping, and stay classy!

My favorite new top

Ever since getting pregnant with my first daughter about 4 years ago, and then after she was born, having my second daughter exactly 18 months later, I really wasn’t in any shape (pun intended) or mood to even want to think about shopping, let alone actually going through with it! Which is quite a surprise considering I LOVE clothing, shoes, accessories  etc. Now that the youngest is 2, I’ve been working very hard to get my body back, if not better! I recently looked at my wardrobe and thought “Damn, I need an update”. After finding this top in Vegas, I knew that it was the perfect addition to my updated wardrobe.

Loose tops, tights tops, there’s a time and place for both, but I feel like more recently, I’m drawn to the loose, long look. Looking at this top, you can see why I fell hard for it. It’s perfection from the color, to the fit, to the oh-so soft fabric. Can be paired with skinnies (as I did here), would look super cute with shorts, and can also be pulled off with a looser type of pant, just have to make sure they fit together!

On another note, I’ll be leaving for New York on Thursday (this time, just the hubby & I), and this is actually only my 2nd time there!! We’re super stoked to be having a mini-vacation by ourselves. Any suggestions out there on what we must do/see/eat?? We’re looking forward to eating mostly food trucks and DDD spots. Would love to hear any suggestions!! Stay classy, realists!

p.s. I’ve still yet to fix my camera, which means photos are continuing to being taken with my iPhone, but bear with me! A new lens will come soon, hopefully ;)

004 008 I love that the style is to be buttoned to the top, but I’ve also worn it opened which looks just as good!019 My first amazing purchase from a previous trip to Vegas :)011 025 027Top: Ted Baker, Pants: Vero Moda, Shoes: Christian Louboutin, Sunglasses: Aldo, Bracelet: Forever21, Ring: BCBG
