Pretty Dresses

SONY DSC

It doesn’t fail when it comes to one question I get asked constantly on a daily from my 2 girlies…”Mommy, can I wear a dress?” A dress, a dress, a pretty dress, a fancy dress, any kind of dress, they want it. During the summer, it’s clearly much easier to always be putting them in one, but now once the colder weather has hit, so do the big sweaters and warmers pants. But since no snow has made it’s way to our grounds yet, why not put these lil cuties in some fall dresses along with fall tights? Even children’s wear transitions from summer to fall ;)

Let’s all jump for joy as it’s Friday and the weekend is here! Have a great one, and stay classy!

Lace Playsuit

SONY DSC

Afternoon/evening, fellow Realists! Happy Tuesday!

As you can see, it’s been a little bit of a challenge to be able to post as frequently as I used to. Having to balance family, our house, and now my new job, I’m still working on getting it all together so that I can get back to writing daily posts, or at least 4 days/week ;)

Since it’s official that there’s no turning back to warm weather for the next few months, adding tights/stockings to summer favorites are pretty much the best way to make your items fall friendly. When I first saw this playsuit make its way into the store, I instantly had a connection to it. Funny thing, I thought it was a dress at first, and after finding out it was actually a romper (if you’ve been following me for a while now, you can understand my love for shorts), I needed it even more. It’s interesting because this is actually not a piece I would usually see myself in, but it’s always nice to try on new pieces and step out of your box of comfort :)

What tips do you have on transitioning your summer favorites fall/winter friendly? Stay warm, Realists, and stay classy!

Plaid, Leather & Booties

SONY DSC

Wow. What a bad blogger I’ve been. I don’t even know how I’ve stayed away for a little over 2 weeks, and I apologize. My days have been so hectic with starting my new job, along with my family life. I am back, though!! And better than ever ;) BUT, and an unfortunate but, due to our lovely Montreal weather, *insert sarcasm here*, outfit photos will have to begin being taken indoors. Yes, I know the lighting and scenery is clearly better outdoors, but I would rather a blank wall to accompany my outfit rather then a cold :P I’ll try to get as many pictures out of the house as I can, but for the meantime, please enjoy my grey wall.

As I’ve mentioned previously, I’ve been hunting for perfect booties that would fit my style, as well as my wallet. I was thrilled when I came across these booties while setting up the shoe stock room. They’re perfect, as they can be worn with a dress or jeans, and the heel is high enough for some height, and low enough to be worn at work.

Are you a fan of fall fashion, or do you long for the days of shorts & ice cream? Do tell!! Have an enjoyable day and stay classy!

SONY DSCYes, another plaid shirt to go with the one I featured on my week of style here (and here, here, here :P)

SONY DSCThe gold plate on these heels is what really caught my eye. I’ve always mentioned how much I love simple items with that added touch, and these booties fall right into that category.

Printed Silk Trousers

SONY DSC

This past weekend, we celebrated my older daughter’s 4th birthday with our close friends. I honestly can’t believe that it’s been 4 years already. Seriously, once kids are involved in your life, time really flies faster than you can imagine.

Right now, Montreal is going through what we call an “Indian Summer“. Unfortunately, our summer this year was not consistent, and fall came sooner than hoped for, but now we’ve been having days full of some much needed heat, and none of us Montrealers are complaining. So I took the opportunity to wear these silk printed trousers before it begins to get too cold once again.

I fell in love with the print once I first saw them online, which means straight to my online shopping cart they went! I won’t lie and say that I knew they would look perfect on me, because I didn’t, which is why I always say it never hurts to try stuff on. You might love it, or you might hate it, but without trying something on you’ve been debating with in your head, you’ll always regret it later on.

Ever end up buying something you thought you’d hate when seeing it at first glance?? I’ve gone through that a couple of times myself. Comment below and tell me all about it! Have an excellent day and stay classy!

SONY DSCHow awesome is this cake!! Since our older munchkin’s 1st birthday, we’ve always had a friend of ours make their cakes, and we’ve never been let down!! She’s amazing at what she does, and not to mention, really sweet :) Check out some of her past and present works of art at winkle.ca. They really do taste as good as they look :P

SONY DSCWhen accessorizing a bold print, like these pants, you can either play safe and choose a neutral shoe, or do as I did and go all out with a bright color, or even better, a contrasting print. I had to add my pink heels.

SONY DSCAnother ear cuff from my hopefully expanding collection. I unfortunately didn’t have any great shots of the whole piece, but it was studs like this contouring the whole ear. Really a statement piece.

Week of Style; Plaid Shirt – Day 4

SONY DSC

Here we are, day 4 of our ‘Week of Style; Plaid Shirt’.

For today’s look, I pulled out these high-waisted, flared jeans, that have been sitting in my closet for, wow, a while now. I was going through all my clothes, trying on items left and right, figuring out whether I wanted to keep or donate. These pants were one of the “unsure” items, but after trying them on, I remembered why I bought them in the first place. Bought many years back, and they still look good today. As much as I fall in love with items that are in style at the moment, I also wear whatever I want. I will always have a soft spot for flared jeans, especially ones like these that are high-waisted AND flared.

While trying on my jeans, from the corner of my eye, I noticed my plaid shirt lying there. Instantly, I knew that they had to be worn together. I also love pairing wedges with flares, so I did just that.

The weather was not really working on our end. Raindrops were slowly starting to fall down from the cloud-filled sky, and i had little girls in the background asking me when we were going to be done. I’ll be the first to tell you these are not the greatest pictures, but you get the point :P

As for tomorrow, I will not be posting anything because I’ll be busy with some stuff at my new job. Yes, I recently got hired at Top Shop and have to go in early tomorrow to fill out papers and such. I’m super excited to be working there because I LOVE Top Shop!  Which means, today’s the final day of our ‘Week of Style; Plaid Shirt’. I hope you’re all inspired with my previous outfits here, here, and here, and of course todays, and are making your ways to malls around to pick up your own version of a plaid shirt. You won’t regret it ;)

We shall meet again on Monday! Have a great weekend and stay classy!

Week of Style; Plaid Shirt – Day 3

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

For some reason, todays weather has decided to shoot up to +28 degrees. Trust me, I’m not complaining, but I will be honest with you and say that it was a little warm while I was taking the pictures with my shirt, and I did remove it after they were done.

I’ve paired my plaid shirt with pants my last two posts here and here, so I then went on to put it together with my maxi skirt. This outfit would be great for weather that’s just warm enough for a slit on your skirt, but still cool enough for a long sleeved shirt. And, as I’ve mentioned previously, you can always tie the shirt around your waist when it starts to get a little too warm.

My last two posts were quite neutral, so I brought in some colors today by adding a lime green tank with my red heels. I know you’re probably getting sick of seeing them, but when you just feel so comfortable in a pair of shoes, you can’t help but want to pair it with everything in your wardrobe.

Mid-week once again, the weekend is near! Stay classy!

Week of Style; Plaid Shirt – Day 2

This past Saturday, we spent a good chunk of our day over at La Ronde, and I spent it in my new plaid shirt. So here, for all you Realists, is how I would style this particular shirt for a day out at an amusement park.

The weather was slightly chilly, but nothing us Montrealers can’t handle (unless you’re still stuck in summer mode and walking around with shorts and flip flops, which trust me, has been done by many), so instead of pairing something over my shirt, I went with a longer shirt under my plaid one. The perks of doing this? If you get too hot, you can always remove your button-down and tie it around your waist a-la 90’s style, which, clearly, is very popular at the moment.

I was in a very black-and-white color combo that day, hence the reason why, well, I have no color. The pants are riding pants from American Apparel, and if you haven’t tried them on, you won’t understand, but if you have, then you will understand how unbelievably tight they are! I mean, I guess it’s a good thing because they keep anything from hanging out, but I did have to visit the washroom more than usual (they are extremely high-waisted as well)! But, all that aside, I do fancy the look, and was quite comfortable. Having to get in and out of all those kiddie rides, I have to make sure what I’m wearing is flexible ;)

Casual and comfy, perfect for a day out shopping, or like myself, enjoying the rides at an amusement park. Don’t forget to check in tomorrow to see day 3 of our ‘Week of Style; Plaid Shirt’. Stay classy!

Week of Style; Plaid Shirt – Day 1

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

Happy Monday, Realists! Hope you all had a great and fulfilling weekend :) As mentioned on Friday’s post here, today is the 1st of day of a new ‘Week of Style’ featuring a plaid shirt.

As I was strolling through my local Maxi, I slowly walked by (as I always do) the Joe Fresh section of the store. Browsing through, looking for a specific dress I just previously saw on a commercial, I then proceeded to catch eyes with this wonderful plaid shirt. First in blue, and then black. I quickly ran over, touched it, and knew it had to go into my shopping cart. Best part? $19! It’s so hard nowadays to come across decent looking clothing, made out of comfortable fabric, for a reasonable price. Joe Fresh really hit all the marks with this one.

I immediately wore it that same day (I usually wash my clothing first, but was really itching to wear it right away) with some skinny jeans and flats for a casual outfit to the mall. The 1st way I wanted to show you how I would dress this shirt is by bringing up the style a notch and adding a nice watch, some bracelets, and a pair of high heels. Still quite casual, but adding heels to an outfit always make it that much more interesting. I also threw on some dark pink lipstick to bring a little color to the whole ensemble. Not a lipstick girl, but still feel like brightening up your outfit a bit?? I always love adding some colored heels to tie it all together. They for sure know how to make an outfit that much more interesting.

Keep reading for the remainder of the week to find out a few more ways on how I would style a plaid shirt. Have a wonderful Monday, and stay classy!

Belts & Sunnies

SONY DSC

I can’t help it. I’m such a typical mom when it comes to taking pictures of my girls and wanting to show them off. As hard as I try not to, because, you know, those people can get a little “too much” with it, I couldn’t not take any pictures yesterday to post about them today.

Once again, I had nothing to do with whatever fashion choices they made that day. It’s all whatever their little brains wanted them to put together, Mardi Gras beads and all. They’re clearly too cool for daycare ;)

Seriously, as much as we all complain that the weekends always come to an end and we have to begin all over again on Monday, days go by so fast!! It’s Wednesday already! Happy hump day, and stay classy!

My Little Fashionistas

SONY DSC

Hello, Realists! Hope you’re all doing/feeling better than I am. I’ve been feeling a little under-the-weather these past few days, hence the reason why I wasn’t around yesterday. I’m still not in any shape to want to take pictures, so I figured it’s a great moment for me to start a new category on the blog called ‘Stylish Little Ones’.

As much as I try to put my little girls’ outfits together in the morning, for the most part, I somehow get tossed to the side while they scramble through looking for the perfect outfit. There are definitely times where I look at them and say “Oh, yes, so cute, but maybe this top would look better?” And then there are those other moments, which let me tell you, come quite often, where I just look at them and think “Wow! You really are your mother’s daughter!” Today being one of those days.

I don’t like to tell them what they “should” wear, but like any parent who’s into fashion, I do like to explain why some items don’t work with others. On this morning, I personally found they nailed it! I mean, I’m their mom, I think they would look beautiful in a burlap sack. So, rather than put you guys through torture and have to see me with red, puffy, eyes, and probably be able to hear me cough through the pictures, here’s my little ones in their OOTD ;)

Have a lovely day, Realists, and stay classy!

P.s. As you’ll see on the older one, she’s completely decked out in Joe Fresh. One of my favorite places to shop for children. Such cute clothing at reasonable prices! If you’ve yet to check it out, please do yourself a favour and go! :)
