Week of Style; Plaid Shirt – Day 1

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

Happy Monday, Realists! Hope you all had a great and fulfilling weekend :) As mentioned on Friday’s post here, today is the 1st of day of a new ‘Week of Style’ featuring a plaid shirt.

As I was strolling through my local Maxi, I slowly walked by (as I always do) the Joe Fresh section of the store. Browsing through, looking for a specific dress I just previously saw on a commercial, I then proceeded to catch eyes with this wonderful plaid shirt. First in blue, and then black. I quickly ran over, touched it, and knew it had to go into my shopping cart. Best part? $19! It’s so hard nowadays to come across decent looking clothing, made out of comfortable fabric, for a reasonable price. Joe Fresh really hit all the marks with this one.

I immediately wore it that same day (I usually wash my clothing first, but was really itching to wear it right away) with some skinny jeans and flats for a casual outfit to the mall. The 1st way I wanted to show you how I would dress this shirt is by bringing up the style a notch and adding a nice watch, some bracelets, and a pair of high heels. Still quite casual, but adding heels to an outfit always make it that much more interesting. I also threw on some dark pink lipstick to bring a little color to the whole ensemble. Not a lipstick girl, but still feel like brightening up your outfit a bit?? I always love adding some colored heels to tie it all together. They for sure know how to make an outfit that much more interesting.

Keep reading for the remainder of the week to find out a few more ways on how I would style a plaid shirt. Have a wonderful Monday, and stay classy!

Amazing Heel Deal

SONY DSC

Now, I know I mentioned in yesterdays post here that I would be featuring my newly purchased plaid shirt today, but I lied. Only a little, so hear me out. As I was sitting here writing my post for today, I couldn’t stop thinking about the multiple outfits I could put together using only one shirt. I then thought it best that instead of giving you one outfit, I’ll give you one a day, for a week! So starting Monday, I’ll be posting a new ‘Week of Style’ featuring the aforementioned plaid shirt :)

Until then, I’ve really been wanting to show you Realists these new heels I picked up for a ridiculous price. Long story short, I’ve been eyeing these Rachel Zoe heels from Winners since I first saw them hit the racks. Original price: $400, Winners: $200. Now, as much as I loved them I couldn’t just drop $200 on a pair of shoes right now. Let me cut to the chase, saw them on sale a couple of weeks ago for, *drum-roll* $40!! Yes, $40 for a pair of heels that was originally $400. Amazing, I know. And the last in my size! Obviously, we were meant to be ;)

I love finding great sales, I mean, who doesn’t. Would love to hear any amazing sales you’ve ever been so lucky to come across! Stay tuned Monday for the start of a ‘Week of Style; Plaid shirt’. Have a wonderful weekend, and stay classy!

Diamond Cut-out Shirt

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

Welcome back to the real world, Realists, as it is once again Monday! A fresh new start to another week. I’m hoping you all had a great weekend!

Yesterday was a pretty chill day as we didn’t have too much going on. Pick up the girls from the in-laws, enjoy some yummy home-made pho, and head on back home for a little “Funday Sunday” with my family (Funday Sunday = boardgames, food, drinks, and more food). I could’ve easily thrown on some Converse and out the door I go, but I thought “Meh, why not!” and decided to pull out these ankle-strap heels of mine to add a little more character to an otherwise simple outfit.

I fell in love with this top the second I saw it. I’m all for a simple, white tee, but, a simple white tee with  diamond cut-outs in the back? Yes, please! All me right there ;) And you can always spice up this top some more by adding a great statement necklace like this one here or here (I love both of these).

Open-back shirts, are they a yes or no for you? Do tell! Have a wonderful Monday, and stay classy!

Pop of Pink

SONY DSC

As much as I’m not a fan of pink (I can count on one hand using only 3 fingers the amount of pink pieces I own), I’m so in love with these pink suede heels. I think it’s the metal heel that drew me to them to begin with. That, and the hubby chose them out ;)

Last night we had a family supper, and to compliment the overall neutralness of my outfit, I paired together these heels. As I was sitting there debating between these pink heels and my red ankle strap heels (here & here) I obviously went with the pink. A pointy toed heel elongates your legs, and I was in the mood for some “elongating” ;)

Friday has come again! The weekend is here! Hope you all have a great Friday and weekend. Stay classy!

SONY DSCJust picked up this shirt from Zara (I swear, slowly my whole wardrobe will be only Zara!) and I’m loving it! So soft and the fit is amazing!

ZeroUV Sunnies

It’s Thursday!! The days are passing by so quickly, I feel like I’m doing nothing, when in fact, I’m doing so much! We’re leaving Saturday for our week-long family reunion to Toronto and the check list of “Things-to-do” is getting checked off, all the while getting longer.

To get some time alone, yesterday the hubby and I decided to go watch a movie since we’ll be filled with family fun as of tonight (having some cousins stay over until Saturday). We ended up deciding on World War ZIt was gooooood, but maybe not as good as I expected? I love Brad Pitt, and he does a fine job as usual, I just felt the story line was a little, off. I’ve yet to read the book, but I would love to now after seeing the movie and hearing the reviews. Apparently, says people, the only thing the movie and book have in common is the title and the zombies. Have any of you read the book? Or have you seen the movie? What were your thoughts?

Now, to the outfit. I recently purchased my first pairs of sunglasses from ZeroUV, and I’m so satisfied! I won’t lie and say that I wasn’t scared about how the quality would be, considering the huge bulk of their frames are only $9.99! But I must say I am pleasantly surprised at how well they’re holding up! I know it’s only been days since I’ve had them, but I can already tell that they’ll hold on a lot better than a lot of my other “cheaper” frames. They look great, they feel great, and best of all, they’re priced great!!! The ones I’m wearing here are a pair of cat-eye ones I picked up. I absolutely love them!! They’re a unique frame that can really compliment so many types of styles. I’ll definitely be ordering from there again soon ;) (really digging these ones here!)

Now, excuse me as I must go hem some pants!! Have a wonderful Thursday and stay classy!

SONY DSCThese heels are quite old, but soooo comfy!!If you can find a heel similar to this where it’s not ultra-high and just the right thickness, invest!! You’ll definitely be glad you did ;)SONY DSCSONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSCTop: Zara, Shorts: Forever21, Shoes: Nine West, Sunglasses: ZeroUV

A Week of Style; Satin Cargo Trousers – Day 4

DSC01170

Day 4! One more day to go ;)

The last time I wore this top here, I had it buttoned up to the top, but had also mentioned that this blouse can also be worn unbuttoned. I wanted to see what it would look like paired with these trousers, and I’m happy I did! I love a loose on loose combo. Don’t get me wrong, you’re more likely to find me in a skinny pant and loose top, but sometimes it’s a nice change to pair together something like this. Allows you to eat more and not worry :P

Obviously I had to add some epic, sky-high heels. It wouldn’t have beeen me had I done anything less ;) I love these heels!!! I first (and only) featured them a while back during my DIY;Muscle Tank week here, and this past weekend was, so sad and true, the first time I actually wore them “out-out”. As in a night-out out. I was quite worried that my feet would kill because the last time I wore them out quickly after that post, I wanted to DIE! They were so uncomfortable and thought to myself “Omg, I just spent x amount of dollars on these shoes and can’t stand them!” I couldn’t let that one time be the deciding factor, and I’m very relieved to say that they are actually not bad!! Just needed some stretching, I guess ;)

Realists, do you have a pair of shoes that literally make you cringe every time you walk in them, but still hold onto them because they’re just too gorgeous to give away? Please share your stories! ;) Have a lovely Thursday, and stay classy!

A Week of Style; Satin Cargo Trousers – Day 3

DSC01127

As my uncle put it, today’s way of styling our satin cargo trousers would be a “night on the town” look. You’ve got the leopard print heels, the red clutch, a silk blue top, and some sparkly sunglasses.

I actually am quite fond of this look. It’s feminine with that touch of edge from the trousers. This is something I would wear out to a nice supper or drinks with the ladies.

I have a confession. I’ve had this top for yeeeaaarrrrssss, and I think I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve worn it… Horrible!! I’m not a huge fan of turtle-necks (I’m quite claustrophobic so I’m usually turned off by them), but I think because this is silk, it deterred me away from that closed up feeling. After seeing how it looked paired with these pants, I’m going to be looking for more bottoms I could pair it with. Make sure I get my money’s worth :P Are you guys fans of turtle-necks? Do tell!

Once again, we’ve made it the middle of the week. How time flies! Have a wonderful hump-day and stay classy!

A Week of Style; Satin Cargo Trousers – Day 1

9346308328_c049a3035a_o

Hello there fellow Realists!! The weekend is done (boo) and a new week has started! I’m hoping you all had a lovely weekend!

This week I’ll be starting something new on the blog; A Week of Style. The hubby will be gone all week for work, so I’ll unfortunately have no one to snap some photos of me. Luckily, this came to mind! Why not take pictures of 5 different outfits so I have something to post up? I mentioned in a previous post about the sales going on at Zara, and the many pieces I bought, so for this whole week, I’ll be featuring the satin cargo trousers I purchased on there and the many ways it can be styled!

First up, I decided to continue on with my talk about graphic shirts here and pair the pants with none other than just that! My brother bought this shirt for my because he thought it was very “me”. Which, I cannot lie, it is! I LOVE Dr. Seuss! I beg my kids daily if I can read his books before bedtime, sometimes I win, and well, you get it. I’m not going to lie, I was never a big fan of the “Cool Story, Bro!” shirts, but I find this one so unique and witty with The Cat in the Hat. I did, however, cut the sleeves off and made it into a muscle tee. Now it’s perfect! He insisted that it better make it’s way onto the blog, so Adam, this one’s for you ;)

I could’ve easily paired this whole outfit with some sneakers. That’s most likely what a lot of people would think as well, but I was set on mixing it up and adding in some heels. Of course, as I mentioned here, these red heels have made their way back onto the blog in such a short amount of time!! I can’t reiterate enough how much I LOVE them!! They’re super comfy, a simple yet lovely design, and they’re red!! A sexy color that always knows how to make an outfit pop!

Voila! Day 1 of my first Week of Style! What do you think? Like the idea? I’ll be leaving for Toronto in 2 weeks and am planning on putting together another one, so I’d love to hear your feedback! Have a lovely Monday, and stay classy!

9343530425_2d751b8544_oI also decided to try out the whole 90’s tie-your-shirt-around-your-waist trend. I’m diggin’ it!9343544547_1230fbbee3_o 9346326878_097309c3e3_o 9346314076_6d2204d908_o 9346330442_d780e5f6de_o 9346338582_bebf6dc61e_oTop: Target c/o my wonderful little bro, Sweater: Lucky 7, Pants & Shoes: Zara, Sunglasses: Diesel

Gladiator Heels

SONY DSC

Yesterday I wrote about my navy blue dress I wore out in the morning here, and today, my lunch outfit from the same day!

The hubby invited me out for lunch that day, so I took advantage of it and made sure to pull out some heels. I’ve been meaning to wear these for a while now, since I’ve yet to wear them this summer, and worked my outfit around them. I felt this skater skirt worked great with it because the flirty-ness of the skirt toned down the edgy-ness of the shoes. Had I worn these with something tighter, it would give off a whole different look. A more “night-time” look ;)

You’ve seen this skirt previously here styled for a late winter/early spring day, and here is a variation of how you can style it for summer!

Do you own any gladiator sandals? Better yet, how do you feel about this trend? I love to know!! Have a wonderful day and stay classy!

Grey & Red

SONY DSC

Good morning/afternoon/evening, Realists!! Hope you all had a lovely weekend and are [somewhat] happy to be starting a new week!

This past Friday, after just finishing my 3-day juice cleanse, a friend had asked me to join her for lunch, which I immediately answered “Yes!” to! We decided on going to a Greek restaurant named Milos that serves an amazing lunch menu. I was so happy to be eating solids again, but maybe a little too happy. Word of advice?? Do not stuff food down your throat too quickly after not eating for 3 days…I was on the verge of throwing everything I ate up…luckily I didn’t!

Now, about the outfit. I find red and black a hit-and-miss color combo. Some people love it, some people hate it. I’m cool with the pair, depending on what the items are. For myself, I actually find that grey and black are a nicer contrast. This shade and color combo has to be one of my favorites of the sort. There are certain colors I am fond of together (i.e. purple & yellow), or shades (i.e. white & black), but when it comes to one of each, I adore the red and grey marriage. Reason is that grey isn’t as harsh as black, so I find that the colors have a more uniformed relationship.

Just a quick note about these heels. I just recently ordered them online off of the huge Zara sale going on (along with many other pieces! Like this top here), and am absolutely infatuated with them. I can literally pair these shoes with anything and everything in my closet, and they’re so comfy!! Realists, I’ll try not to, but be prepared to see them pretty often ;)

I’m off! Have a lovely Monday, and stay classy!

P.s. Is it just me, but I find I have this Janis Joplin look going on with the natural hair and round sunnies, don’t you find? Unintentional, I just noticed it after looking at the pictures!
