Printed Trousers for Summer

Not only am I still coughing up my insides, but to bring me down even more, it’s gloomy and raining outside!! I’m a little over this crazy weather. I’m not one to enjoy wearing pants past mid-June. *sigh*

On the note of rain and pants, having a great printed trouser in your closet is a must-have (especially for those chillier days like today!). After being seen all over the runways, surely enough, they then ended up in many a closet. From floral to paisley, and zig-zags to damask, the sky’s the limit when it comes to printed trousers.

Some may think, “I can’t give in. They’re too hard to pair”, but trust me, it looks harder than it actually is! You can go the easier route and pair your printed pants with a solid, neutral top. Or, you can go the step further and use a solid, colored top. OR, you can be as creative as you can and mix print on print. Oh, the possibilities!!

Realists, it’s Friday! Hooray for the weekend!! This Sunday I’ll be participating in my first Spartan Race, so cross your fingers for me!! I’ll have the whole story for you next week :) Have a great weekend and stay classy!

My Little Fashionistas

Hello, Realists! Hope you’re all doing/feeling better than I am. I’ve been feeling a little under-the-weather these past few days, hence the reason why I wasn’t around yesterday. I’m still not in any shape to want to take pictures, so I figured it’s a great moment for me to start a new category on the blog called ‘Stylish Little Ones’.

As much as I try to put my little girls’ outfits together in the morning, for the most part, I somehow get tossed to the side while they scramble through looking for the perfect outfit. There are definitely times where I look at them and say “Oh, yes, so cute, but maybe this top would look better?” And then there are those other moments, which let me tell you, come quite often, where I just look at them and think “Wow! You really are your mother’s daughter!” Today being one of those days.

I don’t like to tell them what they “should” wear, but like any parent who’s into fashion, I do like to explain why some items don’t work with others. On this morning, I personally found they nailed it! I mean, I’m their mom, I think they would look beautiful in a burlap sack. So, rather than put you guys through torture and have to see me with red, puffy, eyes, and probably be able to hear me cough through the pictures, here’s my little ones in their OOTD ;)

Have a lovely day, Realists, and stay classy!

P.s. As you’ll see on the older one, she’s completely decked out in Joe Fresh. One of my favorite places to shop for children. Such cute clothing at reasonable prices! If you’ve yet to check it out, please do yourself a favour and go! :)

Denim Shorts

Hello Realists!! Excuse me for my 3-day weekend. Yesterday was a holiday for most here in Montreal, as it was St. Jean Baptiste, so I took advantage of the beautiful weather we had earlier in the day (luckily I made it home before the thunder-showers began) and enjoyed a nice picnic with my girls, sister and uncle.

It’s so nice to wake up in the morning and not have to leave with a sweater on. I can finally stash away all of our winter clothing and make more room for dresses and shorts ;) Speaking of shorts, as I’ve mentioned in a post here, they’re really my go to item for the hot weather. So, seeing as how denim shorts are being seen all over this summer, I’ve put together a little collage of a few shorts I wouldn’t mind adding to my collection.

The great thing about denim shorts is that they can easily be dressed up or down, depending on the event. A killer pair of heels and a dressy top, or some Converse and a muscle tee, they’re so versatile that everyone should own at least one pair! Another great thing about denim shorts? They don’t always have to be the typical blue. Branch out and go shopping for some fun, colorful denim!

How do you feel about denim shorts? Or shorts in general? You know me, I do love to hear your thoughts! Hope you all had a lovely weekend and Monday. Stay Classy!

First Day of Summer

*drumroll please* Yes!! It’s finally arrived! The 1st day of summer! And from the looks of it, according to The Weather Network, it’s actually here!

Time to pull out all of our fun (and barely-there) clothing, cute shoes (get rid of those socks!) and the most important pieces to a great summer?? Sangria & Mojitos! I could sure go for some right now ;)

To start the [real] summer days off right, I pulled this bright yellow number out of my closet. It’s been a piece I’ve held onto for years now, and don’t plan on letting go! A great dress like this never goes out of style (but frankly, I don’t care. If I like it, I wear it!) Paired with these purple heels, which are the solid colored version of the ones I’ve worn here. Yellow and purple, one of my favorite color combinations.

Enjoy the rest of your Friday! I hope it’s as beautiful for you as it is for me, and have a wonderful weekend! Stay classy!

Not Your Typical Denim Shorts

When it comes to heat, I LOVE a great pair of shorts. Gym shorts, suit shorts, denim shorts, I absolutely am infatuated (I know that’s a strong word, but it’s true!) with shorts! So when I came across this pair, with the stand-out of the splatted colors, I knew I had to own them! It also helps that I found them on special ;)

When I think of denim shorts, first instinct; blue. Then, I guess you would say white. After that, colored, but these are on a whole other level. I adore the fact that the colors are not super bright, but you do still have those hints of yellow and pink thrown in there.

Now, at first thought, I was heading for a white tank, and then stopped myself mid-track when I then caught, at the corner of my eye, my striped, neon yellow tank I first wore here. I mean, why not?? Adds more character to an outfit (and love mixing prints). And to not over-do it, I threw on my black blazer and some black ankle-strap heels.

It’s Thursday!! And you know what that means? Ladies night at so many restaurants!!! Oh, and the weekend’s a day away ;) Stay Classy, Realists!

White Jeans

White jeans…oh how I hate to love them. They look so clean and crisp the second you put them on, but then you have to cross your fingers (and toes) that they still look as good when you get home later that day. Having kids doesn’t make it any easier, but I say “Screw it! I don’t care” and continue to wear them!

They’re a really good contrast to the blue jean, especially during the spring/summer seasons. And pairing white jeans with anything is great because it always makes your other pieces stand out more. If you’ve yet to give white jeans a try, just do it! One piece of advice, make sure you always carry around a Tide-to-go stick ;)

Happy hump day, Realists! Enjoy the rest of it and stay classy!

Wedged Espadrilles

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

This past Saturday, we went to go visit the hubby’s parents after not seeing them for close to a year. They have a second home in Vietnam and now spend a lot of time there. Since it was a pretty casual outing, I kept my outfit simple with this pair of high-waisted shorts (that are one of my favorites!) coupled with a simple grey tank.

As for footwear, I’m sporting these super comfy wedged espadrilles. If you’re looking for height, as well as that needed comfy factor, wedges are the way to go! Much easier to walk around in than heels because of the one sole. Best part about wedges? No fear of getting stuck in side-walk cracks ;) Also, this summer, espadrilles are trending, so I would definitely suggest snagging yourself a pair!

Enjoy the rest of your Monday, Realists, and stay classy!

Drop-waist Dress

After watching The Great Gatsby yesterday, I felt the need to pull out my one and only drop-waist dress. Oh, how I wish I could’ve lived during the 20’s!

I bought this dress a couple of years ago after snagging it from this crazy sale at Jacob for about $10-$15 (original price, I believe was around $50+). I love the silhouette of a drop-waist because I’m always reminded of the Roaring Twenties. Unfortunately, and I’m not sure why, I actually haven’t worn this dress that often since I first purchased it. I guess watching that movie reminded me of it ;)

I was debating between a few pairs of shoes, and chose to go with these pair of leopard heels with a black bow. Funny because I remember a few years back when I first bought these heels, I thought that they were a nice, high height. Today?? I rarely buy heels lower than 5″. I say the higher, the better ;)

I threw on some pearl bracelets to give it more of that 20’s vibe. And voila, my Gatsby inspired outfit!

Realists, it’s Friday! Have a wonderful day and an awesome weekend. Stay classy!

SONY DSCAdded bonus on this dress? Those pockets! A dress with pockets automatically wins my heart!

Movie Night

Last night, the hubby and I had the pleasure of going out to watch a movie. We decided on watching The Great Gatsby, and let me tell you, what a FANTASTIC movie!! From the choice of songs to the style of filming, and of course, one of my favorite periods of time, The Roaring Twenties!!! Also, who doesn’t love a movie with Leonardo DiCaprio? One of my favorite actors out there. But all in all, an amazing film that I would suggest to anyone, and one that has made its way onto my favorite movie list!

Besides the awesome feature, I had to dress up to go there (Oh, how wonderful it would be if we could just walk around naked all the time!). We haven’t had a date in a while, so I chose to dress up, without actually dressing up.

A simple outfit turned interesting with just a choice of heels and some added jewellery. I’ve been dying to have an excuse to wear these heels again (the last time I wore them was here), so this was the perfect chance! A nice pair of comfy trousers, a simple, bright colored pullover, spiced up with some sexy heels and fancy bracelets! My kind of outfit ;)

Hope you all had a lovely hump-day yesterday! The weekend’s just around the corner. Stay classy!

Camo & Stripes

Ok, I’m convinced mother nature is bi-polar…Monday, I’m wearing shorts and a tank, and yesterday, back to jeans and a cardigan. So far, summer hasn’t been consistent around here, so I’m just crossing my fingers that the nicer weather that’s coming today, will be staying with us!

Because of the rain outside, I opted for taking pictures indoors. As for the outfit, I was in a camo kind of mood, and to spice it up a little, I paired these jeans with a striped cardigan. I also thought I’d go for something a little different by wearing this beanie I received as a gift quite a while ago. Honestly (and I’d like to apologize to my sister for this), I don’t think I’ve ever really worn this hat before…but I’m happy I finally decided to break it out!! It adds a little subtle interest to an overall casual outfit.

Have a lovely rest of your day, Realists, and join me in crossing our fingers for warmer weather! Stay classy!
